Peyronie's Disease Treatment

Many men know what it's like to suffer painful erections due to a curved penis. What many men may not realize is this is actually not a natural occurrence, it’s a treatable condition known as Peyronie's Disease

Peyronie's Disease can be a debilitating disease in more ways than one, aside from the obvious physical effects, there are mental issues to deal with. Many sufferers experience pain during intercourse, this can lead to men avoiding sex altogether which in turn can lead to relationship breakdowns and feeling of inadequacy in the bedroom. Add this to the fact that some men are very self conscious of the unusual appearance of their penis and his confidence will take a battering. If left untreated Peyronie's Disease can become server and lead to impotence.

It's thought the disease occurs by a buildup of plaque in the penis, this plaque buildup appears to be a direct result of some kind of trauma to the penis (although in many cases the cause is unknown). The area where this penis plaque forms becomes solid and scar tissue like in nature. When a man gets an erection, the tissue in this area doesn’t stretch, resulting in a curve at the point of the plaque buildup.

Fortunately the plaque buildup can be broken up by stretching. Daily stretching of the Peyronie's afflicted penis using a traction device can results in stretching existing cells and new cells forming.
There are a number of other alternative treatments to using a stretching device, these however do not seem to be as effective. Other treatments include, radiation therapy, beta blockers and vitamin supplementation (namely vitamin B and E complexes), but as mentioned the treatment is not highly effective but they may reduce the pain associated with the condition.

Surgery is an option but should only be used as a last resort as complications arising from surgery can be catastrophic, often out weighing the risk involved. However in cases where stretching or traction devices do not remedy (straighten the penis) then you should consult a specialist medical doctor to discuss the pros and cons of surgery to correct your penile curvature.

It's not all doom and gloom, there is now an effective Peyronie's disease treatment that involves using traction devices that will help stretch your penis back into a straighter shape when erect, once stretched enough to alleviate pain during erection and intercourse, a man will quickly regain his confidence in the bedroom and as a result relationships often improve.
